Dude.  I was in a badddd mood today.  I swear this rainy weather has put me in a funk.  It has been raining since Friday on and off.  More on than off.  I am over it.  I am thankful that it is helping my plants, but geez.

Back up to last night.  I had a chocolate covered strawberry from the husband’s grandma.  It had a lot of condensation from the refrigerator so I only had one.  It takes a lot for me not to eat more than one chocolate anything, so it had to be just meh for me to stop.  If you don’t like it, why eat it?  It’s a waste of calories!

So here is a picture from the strawberry container:

On to today.  It was definitely a two cup of coffee kind of day.  It still didn’t pull me out of my funk. Hopefully I’ll be in a better mood tomorrow.

For breakfast I had a 100 calorie sandwich thin with chocolate pb.

Like the nail color?  I painted them during the recap of LOST last night.  It’s OPI Cajun Shrimp.  Very summery.

This morning I woke up with a little chest congestion so I chugged some Amazing Grass before Body Pump.  Soymilk is a lot less heavy on your stomach than regular milk so I went for it.  Normally I wouldn’t have something like soymilk before a gym class, but Amazing Grass is best mixed with it.  It’s all for an immune system boost right?

Dinner was a whatever kind of night. The husband had a totino’s pizza and I made a sandwich.  My parents brought me this big tomato from a farmer’s market on their way to visit us.

I chose the biggest piece for my sandwich.

I toasted a sandwich thin.

Add a little mayo.

And some reduced fat blue cheese crumbles. MMMMM! Tomatoes and blue cheese is an awesome combination!

I ate one of these chips with some homemade salsa.  The salsa was mushy after a few days and I threw it out.  Yuck. I only ate one chip.

Lunch should be well balanced with lots of options.  I like to put several things into our lunches:

  • Some sort of protein: ie meat, cheese (we usually have a Trader Joe’s string cheese), yogurt, peanut butter
  • Fruit and veggies: We need to be bigger eaters of these so today we had kiwi in our lunch
  • Starch: like bread, pasta, rice, whole grains: These need to be limited, and if at all, go for the whole grains
  • Beverage: go for water, 100% juice, or a diet drink (yes, I said it.  I have one or less a day)
  • Extras:  I usually need some crunch so I bring a baggie of granola to mix in my yogurt.  Also, don’t forget the dips and condiments.  You have to dress up your lunch to keep it interesting.  The same ole thing everyday is just boring!  That is one thing about living a healthy lifestyle, you have to change it up or you will go crazy and probably not do so well with your diet.  Eating just a salad for lunch everyday will eventually make you splurge and binge eat and then you will feel guilty later on.  Change it up!
  • Remember portion control and never grab anything from a vending machine!

Here are some pictures of what the husband and I ate for lunch today:

I also had some Amazing Grass meal on my way to work.  It was the chocolate infusion kind and it was not easy to shake up. I should have stirred it more before I left.  The taste wasn’t bad, but the “chunks” of un-dissolved powder were just gross.  I only drank about half of it.

I had left over soft tacos for lunch, the husband a peanut butter sandwich, yogurt and granola, kiwi, a granola bar if still hungry, and a piece of pumpkin bread.

Off to make some snacks for our lunches tomorrow and finish dvr-ed Desperate Housewives.

This morning I woke up at about 6:30 because the husband was getting ready for work and I just couldn’t sleep anymore.  I made him an omelet (just cheese, we ran out of ham) (I know I’m an awesome wife) and then started cleaning.  I swept the floors, swiffered, did dishes, ran the dishwasher, the second load of laundry is in the washer, got together all of my Halloween candy (we have a lot!), cleaned my kitchen, and it’s only 9:30am.  I still have folding laundry, clean the bathroom and steam some clothes.

Once the floors dried I let Zoey out of the guest bathroom.  This is where I found her

She’s rotten.

The husband are going to the mall today, Old Navy, Best Buy and maybe the farmer’s market.  Tonight we are going to a cookout at the school then the football game.  I am so excited about Trick or Treaters tomorrow.  I have a bunch of candy and I can’t wait for Brandon and I to go to the door for our first trick or treaters.  We are so stoked.

I finally got hungry around 9 and drank a glass of chocolate soy milk and half of this:

An Amazing Grass organic green superfood chocolate whole food energy bar.  The chocolate around the bar is dark and rich.  I am going to save the other half for when I am finished cleaning.  It definately full of  “greens,” which took a few bites to get used to, but I enjoyed it.  Back to cleaning!

Amazing Grass

Look what was sent to me on Monday!

An awesome package from Amazing Grass!

They sent me all of these food powders and bars and I can’t wait to try them.  Amazing Grass has become a new favorite product of mine and I usually drink a kids Superfood pack every morning with soy milk.  I let the packet dissolve in about 1oz of water first and then add the soy milk.  The problem with that was it still had some chunks of powder that I had to stir some more at the end.

But that problem is solved!  Check out the cool shaker I recieved!!!!

Check out all of the packet choices/flavors:DSC_0053

I kept trying to take a nap this afternoon, but just couldn’t fall asleep.  It is that I am too rested or the husband’s snoring.  I’m going with the second.

I had one of those mornings this morning where nothing in my closet fit.  I felt slumpy and bloated-looking in everything I put on.  I settled on jeans and a t-shirt.

I had two fresco tacos from Taco Bell for lunch (one crunchy, one soft) and am so ready for dinner.  We are going to Outback tonight.  It’s truly a love/hate relationship.  I love all of the food there, but the calories are saddening.

I am planning on a 6oz outback special since it is the smallest cut of meat there and a sweet potato.  I am going to cut back on the bloomin onion and not eat any bread!

I am drinking a glass of Amazing Grass before I go so I feel more full before dinner.  If I go to dinner ravenous, I know I will eat way too much!  I buy Amazing Grass packets from Whole Foods.  It may be more cost efficient to buy a container, but I am not happy settling on one flavor.

You can read about Amazing Grass here: http://amazinggrass.com/

  • I mix my packet with one ounce of water before I fill the rest of my glass with Trader Joe’s unsweetened soy milk. It is like a fun flavored drink that keeps your nutrition and portions in check!

If you haven’t tried Amazing Grass, check it out at Whole Foods or online!
